A week without running...

Again, it hit me after my long run last saturday.  At first, I felt the sinus pressure, right between my eyes when I was out to lunch.  Then, that night, while out at CPK with friends, I started sneezing.  I thought it was allergies, but no.  Full blown sick.  I felt achy, I was congested, I was coughing, all I wanted to do was sleep.  I passed it to Camdyn and she got a high fever from this monster bug.  She's better, but a week later, I am still sick. I just have the gift that keeps on giving because now I have a sinus infection.

Am I frustrated? Yes.  Whenever, I up my miles to double digits, I get sick.  This happened in October while I was training for PF Changs.  I was out an entire two weeks that time and it made me question whether I could do another marathon.  Apparently, I could.  I came back and I finished 26.2 again.  One of my running buddies, Harvey, has a saying.  The only thing he or I have over any first time marathoners is that we know that we can do it.  I'm thinking it's the same thing for me getting sick during training:  I know I can come back from this sickness and finish San Diego in June.

Training starts again tomorrow.  Hopefully.

  2. Feel better soon!

During training, I drink an Emergen-C every single day, as an afternoon drink. It's a nice little break from water (which I still drink a ton of) and it tends to work wonders at helping me not catch stuff. And make sure you sleep enough too, training takes a lot out of us!
