Running?

What? I haven't posted lately about my return to the running world? That's ridiculous! I must just be too busy running to write about it.

Or, I may have not been running...

Yep, that seems more likely.

I can list multiple excuses:
"I can't run right now, I just ate."
"I can't run right now, I'm hungry."
"it's too hot."
"it's storming outside."
"I have to take care of my daughter."
After waking up at 6 am, " I have a really busy day today, and I need to rest."

Sigh, I just need to get myself to the gym. Lately, the weather has looked like this:

Gorgeous, right? In Phoenix, this is incredibly rare! So, I took the opportunity to go running yesterday. I strapped on my Garmin and ran out the door. My Garmin was low on battery, due to forgetting to plug it in and about five minutes into my run, it shut itself down. Normally, this is not a big deal. I just keep running. However, after it shut down, it decided to boot itself back up. The Garmin logo flashed across the screen accompanied by a startup chime, "doo do do". It then remembered how low the battery was, so it shut down again.

Two seconds later, "doo do do". Garmin logo. Shut down.
Run. Run.
"doo do do"
Run. Run.
"doo do do."

If the thing wasn't so expensive, I would have thrown it across the park. Nothing I did would stop it from constantly rebooting. Needless to say, it wasn't the most relaxing run.

Lesson learned: Always plug in Garmin.

To get myself running consistently, I need a goal. Therefore, I'm registering for a race!

Everyone Run's Reverse the Course 5.2 mile trail race. The race is at the end of September in Tucson. I've run an Everyone Run's race before and it was fantastic! Not too many people. Complete Mexican breakfast provided after and free post-race massage. What else can I ask for?

  2. Races are one of the best motivators, another one is shopping for running clothes! Good luck with your training and I hope your Garmin cooperates more :)
