Organizing

In a fantastic book, The Happiness Project, the author undertakes a year of projects with the goal of making her life happier. Her January project was organizing, specifically her closet. My big take-away from this was "the joy of an empty shelf.". Not that I need an empty shelf. I think an empty shelf is...well, empty. But the shelves in my closet that were being used for sheets could use a drastic makeover. Unfortunately, I do not have a before picture, but I'll do the best I can to conjure a mental image. Josh and I have been living together for about 10 years now and have kept every single bed set we have ever owned. We even kept sheets and blankets we owned before we were together and every single sheet, pillowcase and comforter was stuffed on this set of shelves.

When Big Brothers and Big Sisters called for a charity pickup, I thought it was an excellent opportunity to gain some much needed shelf space. Here's what it looks like now:

Now I have room for shoes :)

The art cabinet was in about the same condition: a mess and unusable:

Pinterest pointed me to plastic shoeboxes. They cost a buck a piece a Target. Now, I have this:

Someday, when I am very, very brave, I will take on my classroom.
