Back at it

For the past few months, I have been on hiatus.  I haven't been running.  I haven't been biking.  I definitely haven't been swimming.  My workouts have been non-existent.  When did I stop?  When I fell off my bike in mid- October. I seem to have left one little incident deter me from working out.  My sister bought me a subscription to Triathlete magazine for the holidays.  On the back cover is this triumphant picture of Chrissie Wellington's victory at the Ironman World Championships in Kona this past October:

Oh wait, let me zoom on her left leg.

Two weeks before her Kona win, she crashed her bike going around a turn in Boulder she had taken several times before.  She suffered deep contusions to her hip and shoulder as well as horrible road rash, seen in the photo above.  During her swim practices before the event, she experienced sharp pains in her chest, leading doctors to believe she also tore a pectoral muscle.  With all this, she still competed in Kona and won.  This puts my little fall into perspective.

This morning, I arrived at LA Fitness at 8am and met my friend Chelsea for an 800 yd swim.

Yesterday, we did a 3.1 mile run around Tempe Town Lake.  I am back at it!  And it always helps to have a training partner.
