This morning's run was fantastic! I'm surprised because I wasn't really looking forward to it. Last week, I caught a horrible stomach bug that knocked me out of eating for a day and had me clutching my stomach all weekend. As a result, I have been so tired all week that this morning was my first run since last Saturday.
I stepped out my front door in a horrible mood. My stupid I-Pod didn't want to turn on. I kept pressing buttons while the screen remained dark. Not until I reset it did I finally see the apple symbol. I use the Nike + software with my I-Pod so I almost didn't go because I thought that my run wouldn't be tracked, so what would be the use?
As soon as I started running, I felt strong and my strides came easily. The weather was perfect (overcast and cool.) I ran 2 1/2 miles to the canal and then ran down the canal to intersect with my running group. Sure enough, I spotted my friend, Harvey, and ran with him for two of the middle miles. I love running with Harvey because he is a talker when he runs. He always has interesting stories and advice, so running with him always keeps my mind off my legs aching or my growing tiredness.
I ran back home through ASU Business Park as "Stronger" played on my Ipod. "That which doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger." How true, Kanye, for marathon training. 9 mile run, done.
Yay! Go Joann!
ReplyDeleteI played that song on a loop for about the last 40 minutes of my last marathon...really great power song! (and good beat for running!) Nice job on your 9-miler!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :)
